Catch your first flatfish with a snorkel and harpoon on a guided spearfishing tour for beginners – if you’re lucky! Spearfishing is fishing with a harpoon while dressed in a wetsuit and equipped with snorkelling gear.
A guided snorkelling tour with Snorkelsafari.dk generally takes around 2 hours, half of which takes place in the water. The rest of the time is spent on safety instruction and learning about your equipment and spearfishing techniques.
No special skills are required to participate in this tour. However, you should be a moderately good swimmer and in good health. Rental of the wetsuit and all other necessary equipment is included in the price. Height-wise, you must be 155–200 cm tall. If you are under 18, you will have to make do with a hand spear.
When you book a guided snorkelling tour, we will agree exactly where we will meet by e-mail or telephone. It will usually be close to a beach on the Little Belt near Haderslev – Snorkelsafari.dk’s home turf. But there may well be other spots in Southern Jutland where you would particularly like to experience the underwater universe.
Most spearfishing for beginners takes place while floating on the surface, and usually in shallow water of a depth of around 0.5–1.5 metres. At this depth, you can find flounders, turbot, sea trout and many other edible fish. This is because the sunlight can easily reach the bottom here, causing seaweed and algae to thrive and providing a breeding ground for all other marine life, big and small.
So, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned and experienced spearfisherman eager for more, you can book a guided snorkelling tour tailored to your needs.
